But Jesus tells us otherwise in Matthew 5:21-22.

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.”

Anger isn’t something we should just sweep under the rug. It’s painful. And it can affect those around us in terrible ways.

Below are some questions to ponder this week.

- Who are you angry with right now in your life?

- Why has their behavior affected you in this way?

- What steps will you take to deal with your anger this week?

- If you need help, who will you go to?

This week,  Adam Reynolds will join the NP staff as our new youth minister.   Adam and his wife,  Autumn,  have been serving as part of our youth ministry team for the past year and we are super excited to have the both of them step into this new role of leadership in our church family.

Adam is currently a full-time student at Dallas Theological Seminary,  pursuing his Master’s Degree in Christian Education…and is due to graduate in May.   He is also the founder/director of Resonate,  a campus-based college ministry serving colleges and universities in Denton County, Texas.

Even though there is a lot on his plate,  we are confident that his experience,  education,  and passion for reaching young people with the grace of Jesus is exactly what we need.   We’re sure you’ll feel the same way,  also!

Also,  a huge thanks is due to Debbie (who assumed the primary role of leading) and the whole youth ministry team for stepping in these past seven months and building the current ministry to kids we have right now.   They are an awesome group and have laid a great foundation to build on.   The North Point family has been served well and  I am unbelievably grateful for their example of dedication and passion for the Kingdom.   - Mike

On Christmas morning at 10 a.m., we will be celebrating Jesus’ birth in our pajamas. Yes, I said in our pajamas. Modesty is of utmost importance. If you can’t decide if you should or shouldn’t wear your pajamas, then you probably shouldn’t.

If you will be in the area, you have absolutely NO excuses. If you will be with family, bring them! It will be a wonderful, laid back service. We hope to see you there!

We just want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for being a part of something bigger. Thank you for giving a gift that will be highly treasured. Thank you for loving your neighbor as yourself.

We are so excited to see what the next couple weeks hold for Advent Conspiracy. How cool would it be to exceed our goal and give even more than we planned this Christmas?

We have been talking about Advent Conspiracy for several weeks now. As a reminder the priority is to:

Worship Fully. Spend Less. Give More.Love All.

We have prioritized a list of needs and hope to collect $22,180 over the next 4-5 weeks. We have collected $4,050. With these funds we are setting aside $1,000 to build a water well in Asia. We are shopping for families and children in need so that they may have Christmas gifts, food and other necessities through the Advocacy and Pregnancy Center of Lewisville and through our own North Point Children’s ministry.

We still plan to build more wells, fund the construction of the foundations of 5 houses in Arizona through Arizona Reservation Ministries, purchase goats and chickens through World Vision, help build houses through AMOR ministries, fund the tuition for a student in India to prepare to take the gospel to that country, send a monetary gift to Dallas Christian College to help educate ministry students, buy food and supplies for CCA’s food pantry, and help even more organizations reach out to those in need.

As a whole church family we have the opportunity to make an impact in our community and all over the world. Some of the projects need action now. Would you consider giving your gift this Sunday?

But we will also be directing our attention and resources to some great ones right in our own community.

One of these organizations is the Advocacy and Pregnancy Center just down the street from our church building.

The center provides men, women, and families with the accurate information they need to make the right choices. Their services include pregnancy tests, clothing and food assistance, classes, and support groups.

A couple groups from our church family will be given some funds received through Advent Conspiracy to purchase, wrap, and deliver gifts and household items for two families that are served through the center.

The impact we hope to make this Christmas starts in our community and extends internationally. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Christmas.

I want to encourage you to give more of your time and your resources this season. There are so many different ways you can do this.

One idea is to spend extra time with your family or friends by taking a trip, planning a game day, baking goodies, grabbing dinner or coffee, or doing something fun around town.

You could also commit to volunteering in your community with your friends or family. Some places you could volunteer include Angel Tree, Greater Lewisville Cares, or CCA.  And don’t forget about your neighbor down the street who may need help cleaning the garage or raking leaves.

We have the perfect example of love and He taught us how to give. So let’s show that love to others this season through our relationships and giving.
